Professor Trevor Robbins has been selected as the recipient of the 2017 Gold Medal Award by the Society of Biological Psychiatry. This award is given for lifetime achievement in advancing the understanding and treatment of psychiatric illness.

Kerry Ressler, President of the Society, said Professor Robbins was one of several outstanding candidates for this year's award.  He had been nominated for his "fundamental contributions to the understanding of cortico-striatal function and its role in many psychiatric disorders and addictions" and for his "work bridging mechanisms of pathology to new treatments".

The award will be presented at the Society's 72nd Annual Scientific Convention and Meeting in San Diego in May this year.
