Downing Fellows join education leaders roundtable
In March, Dr Kamran Yunus, Director of Admissions, and Dr Sarah Kennedy, Deputy Director of Admissions, joined the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Deborah Prentice, and senior University colleagues on a visit to Colyton Grammar School, Devon, for a roundtable with education leaders in the South West. The discussion was part of a new multilateral partnership between universities and the Colyton Foundation, a charity established by Colyton Grammar School's staff and trustees dedicated to ensuring that students throughout the South West can access and pursue higher education.
Under the leadership of Mr Nick Wakeling, the Foundation has created a coalition of partners that include the University of Cambridge, the University of Bristol and the Sutton Trust with the aim of supporting under-resourced students from the South West and empowering them to obtain places at highly selective universities.
Central to this initiative is the ‘Your Future Story’ project, a transformative programme bringing together resources and expertise from across sectors and institutions to create an inclusive educational landscape from playground to PhD, where every student has the opportunity to thrive.
