Why choose Downing College?

Downing is a friendly and informal community which encourages its students to strive for academic excellence. Membership of our postgraduate body is both a cosmopolitan and intellectually enriching experience. We admit students on a full-time or part-time basis for all of the University’s postgraduate courses, with a preference for research students working towards the PhD.

Tutors at Downing

Downing boasts a well-established support system for postgraduate students, with three specialist Postgraduate Tutors and an efficient and supportive Tutorial and Admissions Office.

Postgraduate Tutors are appointed to support postgraduate students, especially in their relationships with the College and with the University.  Tutors are Fellows of the College and are associated with University departments.

They are available to give advice and support with regard to accommodation, financial matters, social or medical issues or other non-academic needs such as references.

For more detailed information on support at Downing, see the current students page.
