Downing alum becomes youngest KC in modern times

Congratulations to Downing alum, Tom Owen (2007), who has been appointed as King’s Counsel (KC). Tom is the youngest ever Silk to be appointed in modern times.

After studying Law at Downing, Tom was called to the Bar by Middle Temple in 2011 and undertook his pupillage at Keating Chambers in London. Tom commands a substantial practice leading heavy and complex construction, energy, engineering and professional negligence disputes in the High Court, Court of Appeal, Supreme Court and in international arbitration.

Graham Virgo KC, Master of Downing College and Professor of English Private Law said: “Tom made his mark at Downing as an exceptional Law student and we are all immensely proud of his success at the Bar reflected by his appointment as King’s Counsel at such an early age. We wish him well for what comes next.”
