University Open Days 

4 & 5 July 2024

Discover Downing Prospectus

Downing College will be open from 9.30am to 4.30pm on both days (4 & 5 July). There is no need to book in advance for any Open Day event at the College, but please check the University webpage to sign up to department activities, which will be announced in Spring 2024.  

Information on our events can be found below. We look forward to you visiting our College! 

Tours

All our tours are delivered by current students and leave from outside the Maitland Robinson Library every 5-10 mins. There is no need to book onto a tour, please just approach the welcome desk on arrival and choose your tour from the following options:

  • Guided Tour (approx. 30 mins)
  • Self-Guided Tour

Drop-In Desks

There will be four drop-in desks with staff and students on hand to answer any of your questions on:

  • Admissions – Our Admissions Officer will be answering any questions on the application process
  • Accommodation – Our Accommodation Team will be on hand to answer all your accommodation enquiries
  • Wellbeing – Our Head of Student Wellbeing and College Nurses will be around to discuss all the support available at Downing
  • Student Life – Our student ambassadors would love to answer any questions you have about Downing and studying at Cambridge

Both concerts are drop-in sessions, and prospective students are welcome to join at any point.

Food and Drink 

The Lord Butterfield Café will be open from 9.30am to 4pm, serving beverages and snacks to keep you fuelled and refreshed throughout the day.

Or you can visit the Dining Hall (between 12pm and 1.30pm) for lunch. At Open Day, we would like you to sample student life, so will be offering lunch meals at student prices; please head to the Student Life Desk to find out more.
