Downing postgraduate makes 'Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia' list

Congratulations to Downing MCR member Wen Liu who has been named in this year's Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia list of 'game changers under 30 transforming the world'.  Wen Liu, who is currently studying for a PhD at the Department of Engineering, co-founded Illume Research, an Edutech company that focuses on cultivating students’ research abilities and academic leadership skills through providing custom-made innovative research programs, teaching management systems and online education platforms.  He is also a visiting researcher at Stanford University and Keio University. He holds an MPhil degree from Cambridge University and an MSc degree from Johns Hopkins University respectively.

Wen Liu says, "Studying at Downing, I have the opportunity to touch upon cutting-edge academic resources and conduct research under the direction of a world-renowned Professor.  This has helped me to better understand the importance of cultivating innovation and academic leadership skills for the younger generation. I sincerely hope to boost the China-Western academic communication and try best to cultivate the academic talents for the future.

The Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia list highlights entrepreneurs using technology to develop their industries, empower their communities and overcome cultural barriers. Finalists were selected from over 2000 thousand online nominations, research by a team of reporters at Forbes and across Asia, and evaluated by a panel of experts in their fields.
