Course overview
The four-week programme
The four-week course includes two weeks of thought-provoking virtual coursework and two weeks of in-person residential courses at Downing College.
Two weeks online
Students will attend virtual classes related to their chosen in-person subject. This online component will run as a precursor to the residential programme, ensuring students are prepared to fully delve into the academic courses upon arrival.
Virtual classes are as follows:
-
Pure Maths and Research Methods
or
-
Applied Maths and Essay Writing
Virtual lessons are pre-recorded, allowing students the flexibility to attend as their schedule allows. In addition to grading coursework, the Academic Tutor will be available to answer any questions that may arise from the lesson.
Two weeks in person
The two-week residential programme dates available are:
-
Programme A: 30 June - 13 July (not taking bookings)
-
Programme B: 14 July - 27 July
-
Programme C: 28 July - 10 August
-
Programme D: 11 August - 24 August
Note: Students may choose to attend more than one residential session. In this case, they will select an additional residential course and subject in their application.
Students will participate in 25 hours of direct instruction per week. The course curriculum and materials have been developed by subject specialists within the University of Cambridge and approved by Downing College staff and Fellows. It’s challenging, yet attainable.
“I signed up for economics. The courses are really helpful in preparing us to apply for University.”
